Vanessa Pre-School opened in May 2014, this is a new venture for the Nursery School and Children’s Centre led by Michele who has a number of years experience of working with the youngest children providing early education and care of the highest quality.

Currently children meeting the criteria for a funded 2 year old place will receive 15 hours of quality nursery provision base in our beautiful environment at Cathnor Park Children’s Centre.

The qualified and highly experienced team of teachers, early years educators and support staff at Vanessa Pre-School provide a caring and supportive atmosphere in which to introduce you and your child to a new chapter of their lives. The team bases the curriculum around the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum as well as leaning heavily on researched excellent early years theory. We work closely with families to help nurture and develop children’s learning and interests.

In the foundation years from birth to five years old, children are learning mostly through play and real experiences, both indoors and outside. The Department for Education says that at the end of the Early Years Foundation Stage, “children should start school healthy, happy, communicative, sociable, curious, active, and ready and equipped for the next phase of life and learning.”

Children’s well being is paramount to us across all areas of the setting; to facilitate this from the very beginning children at Vanessa Pre-School are allocated a key person to assist them during their time at nursery, this begins with a home visit from their key person and a gentle and individualised approach to settling into nursery. We are an attachment aware school and place a great deal of importance on the separation from parents and settling into the nursery environment. Children are encouraged to explore and investigate and learn through play while begin supported to develop strong relationships in our free flow environments.
