Admissions

Vanessa Nursery School is very popular with the local community and is often oversubscribed; inevitably, many families are disappointed because there is not a place for them. Vanessa Nursery is situated in the Askew Ward off Goldhawk Road.

We have our largest intake of children into the nursery school during the autumn term; this is because more children leave nursery to transfer to reception class at the end of the summer term, although we do have some places available throughout the year and frequently admit children at other points in the year as places become available.

For the vast majority of places, Vanessa Nursery follows the local authority admissions criteria. There are additional criteria for allocating full time places; these criteria include; eligibility for the 30-hour childcare code, social and educational need.

Under present education law, there is no right of appeal if your child is unsuccessful in getting a place in Nursery.

Government funding provides all children aged 3 and 4 with 15 hours of funded nursery provision, since September 2017 children of working parents may be eligible for an additional 15 hours of nursery provision if they meet the government set criteria. You can find out if you may be eligible by visiting the Child Care Choices website.

For children aged 3 and 4 you can also pay to ‘top up’ your child’s place from 15 hours to 30 hours during the core day. Please contact the admin team for more information.

Some 2-year old’s may receive funding for nursery places, to check eligibly contact the admin team. Eligible working parents of 2-year-olds can access 15 hours funding, to check your entitlement please visit https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk .
